History

Nishi-Hino Station opened on 14 August 1912, when the Mie Tramway (Mie Kido) opened its line between Hinaga and Hachioji-mura (later Ise-Hachioji). It was transferred to the Mie Railway on 19 July 1916, then became a station of Mie Kotsu in a February 1944 merger, of Mie Electric Railway on 1 February 1964, and of Kinki Nippon Railway on 1 April 1965. Torrential rain suspended service between Hinaga and Ise-Hachioji on 25 July 1974; the Hinaga–Nishi-Hino section was restored on 1 April 1976, with the station relocated 0.1 km toward Hinaga, while the section between this station and Ise-Hachioji was abolished, making the station the terminus. It was transferred to the Yokkaichi Asunaro Railway on 1 April 2015, and ICOCA became usable on 21 August 2021.

Notes

When the station was rebuilt as a terminus in 1976 with only a single platform and no run-around track, Kintetsu's narrow-gauge stock could not turn motor cars at the end of the line, so trains had to operate either as a single self-propelled car or with a trailer sandwiched between two motor cars.
