History
Nishi-Takanosu Station opened on 1 April 1989, built by the Akita Nairiku Jūkan Railway in Takanosu Town, Kita-Akita District. It is a newly established station created after its predecessor, the Japanese National Railways Aniai Line, was converted to third-sector operation on 1 November 1986, and it was built as a station on the Akita Nairiku Line. It is an at-grade station with a single side platform serving one track, and has been operated unstaffed since opening. It has no station building, only a simple waiting shelter on the platform. The neighboring stations are Takanosu and Jōmon-Ogata, and both rapid services (up direction only) and local trains stop there.
