Location

History

Nishi-Seiwa Station is on the JR Hokkaido Furano Line in Asahikawa, Hokkaido — the line that runs from Asahikawa Station to Furano via Biei. The city is near the centre of Hokkaido in the Kamikawa Basin and, with a population of about 310,000, is a designated Core City and the second-most populous city in Hokkaido after Sapporo; the Furano Line serves Asahikawa Station, Kagura-oka, Midorigaoka, Nishi-Goryō, Nishi-Mizuho, Nishi-Kagura, Nishi-Seiwa, and Chiyogaoka inside the city limits.

Notes

Asahikawa sits near the centre of Hokkaido and serves as the economic, industrial, and cultural centre of Dōhoku (northern Hokkaido), with national roads and railway lines starting and ending there, making it a logistics hub for Hokkaido — so the Furano Line, on which Nishi-Seiwa lies, doubles as commuter infrastructure for one of Hokkaido's largest urban catchments.
