Location

History

Nishi-Horibata Station is an Iyotetsu stop in Ōtemachi 1-chōme, Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, with stop number 03. It is used by city tram (Matsuyama City Line) routes 1, 2, and 5. It opened on 1 September 1911 as a stop of the Matsuyama Electric Tramway and became a stop on the Iyotetsu Jōnan Line following the corporate merger of 1 April 1921. On 1 May 1936, the Ōtemachi Line opened, and the station became a junction. The Jōnan Line was suspended on 19 August 1946, and the station reopened as the Honmachi Line on 1 July 1948. On 1 March 2018, the Honmachi Line platform was renamed and separated out as Honmachi 1-chōme Station.

Notes

Nishi-Horibata Station has trackage allowing through running from the Jōnan Line (toward Minami-Horibata) to either the Ōtemachi Line (toward JR Matsuyama Station) or the Honmachi Line (toward Honmachi 6-chōme). Because the Honmachi Line platform was separated out as Honmachi 1-chōme Station on 1 March 2018, the two stations remain close together today.
