History
Nishibessho Station is a single-platform stop on the Sangi Railway Hokusei Line in Kuwana, Mie Prefecture, 2.0 km from the line's terminus at Nishi-Kuwana. It opened on 5 April 1914 as a Hokusei Railway station, became Hokusei Electric Railway on 27 June 1934, and through a series of mergers joined the Kintetsu network by 1 April 1965. The platform was extended by five metres on 20 April 1977. The Hokusei Line was spun out to the private operator Sangi Railway on 1 April 2003, and a new station building was completed on 25 March 2004. The station is unstaffed, and Kuwana Nishibessho Post Office stands nearby.
