History
Nishi-Ashikajima Station opened on 1 March 1970 in Chōshi, Chiba Prefecture, as a stop on the privately operated Chōshi Electric Railway Line, 3.2 km from the line's terminus at Chōshi. It was added at the request of local residents to serve the surrounding residential area, and remains the newest station on the line. The station has a single side platform serving one track and is unstaffed, with a small open shelter rather than a full station building, no toilet, and a vending machine for drinks. The platform was extended on the Chōshi side in December 2009 to accommodate the line's Deha 2000 and Kuha 2500 series cars.
Notes
The station's naming rights have changed hands repeatedly since Chōshi Electric Railway introduced sponsored nicknames on 1 December 2015: a rice retailer took the first one, the rights lapsed in 2017, a private individual became the first individual holder in April 2018, a dental clinic followed in March 2019, and Ashizawa Finetech took over in 2020 and still held them as of 2025.
