Location

History

Ninose Station opened on 20 October 1929 as a station on the Kurama Electric Railway, in Sakyō-ku, Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture. It became a station on the Keifuku Electric Railroad Kurama Line through a corporate merger on 1 August 1942, and became a station on the present-day Eizan Electric Railway Kurama Line when Keifuku Electric Railroad transferred the Kurama Line to Eizan Electric Railway on 1 April 1986. Its station numbering is E15. It is an unstaffed station with two opposed platforms serving two tracks; the platform bound for Demachiyanagi has a log-cabin-style waiting room, while the platform bound for Kurama has a bench under a short shelter roof. It lies almost at the midpoint of the single-track section, and during the daytime all trains cross each other at this station.

Notes

Maple trees are planted along both sides of the track between the neighboring Ichihara Station and this station, forming what is called the "Momiji Tunnel" (maple tunnel), a well-known spot for viewing autumn foliage from the train window; during the Kibune Momiji Tōrō festival in November, a light-up event is also held within the station grounds.
