Location

History

Niitsuru Station opened as a general station on 15 October 1926. It is located at Shimo-Ishida-kō, Tateishida, Aizumisato, Ōnuma District, Fukushima Prefecture, and is now a station on JR East's Tadami Line. Freight handling ended on 29 August 1971, and parcel handling ended on 1 February 1986; the station became unstaffed on 7 November of that year (tickets were sold at the neighboring agricultural cooperative's gas station). It became a JR East station at the National Railways' privatization and division on 1 April 1987. It originally had two opposed platforms serving two tracks and two freight platforms, but now only a single side platform serving one track remains, along with the traces of the removed freight platforms; a railway snow-protection forest stands beside the removed platform. The station building was rebuilt in January 2000, and it is now an open-style building of the same design as Aizu-Takada and Aizu-Hongō stations.

Notes

For a time after the station became unstaffed in November 1986, tickets were sold at the neighboring agricultural cooperative's gas station.
