Location

History

Niigata University Station opened on 8 April 1984 on the Echigo Line in Nishi-ku, Niigata, serving Niigata University. It is 72.3 kilometres from the line's starting point at Kashiwazaki. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR East. In 2017 its English station name was changed from "Niigatadaigakumae" to the current "Niigata University". The station has a single ground-level side platform serving one bi-directional track and accepts Suica fare cards.
