History
Nemoto Station is on the JR Central Taita Line in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture, 4.8 km from the line's starting point at Tajimi and carries station number CI05. It opened on 15 February 1920 as a station on the privately operated original Tōnō Railway, then passed into the Ministry of Railways' Taita Line at nationalisation on 25 September 1926. The original station was closed on 1 October 1928 when the line was rebuilt to a regauged new alignment, and the present station was opened on the new route on 26 December 1952. Operation was contracted out in 1972. The station passed to JR Central at JNR's privatisation on 1 April 1987, and the TOICA IC card became usable on 13 March 2010 through simplified TOICA readers.
Notes
Although the station handles modest single-platform local traffic, it retains a staffed JR Zensen Kippu Uriba ticket window run under contract by Tōkai Transport Service staff, with the window closing briefly several times during its 8:00–19:00 service day.
