History
Natsui Station is a JR East station on the Ban'etsu East Line, located at Machiya, Natsui, Ono, Tamura District, Fukushima Prefecture; it opened on 10 October 1917. Freight handling ended in 1962 and parcel handling in 1984; the station became unstaffed in April 1986, and passed to East Japan Railway Company at the division and privatization of JNR in April 1987. Following the outsourcing of Miharu Station's operations in April 2016, the managing station was changed to Kōriyama Station. It is a ground-level station with a single platform serving one track; it formerly had an island platform with two tracks, but the track on the station-building side was removed when the station was unstaffed. After contracted staffing ended, the station building itself was demolished, and today only a large station-front plaza remains.
Notes
The area around the station is known for the "Thousand Cherry Trees of Natsui"; nearby Suwa Shrine has the Okina-sugi and Ōna-sugi cedars, both designated National Natural Monuments.
