History
Narumi Station opened on 8 May 1917 as a station on the Aichi Electric Railway. On 1 August 1935 the Aichi Electric Railway merged with the Nagoya Railroad to form present-day Meitetsu, and the station passed to the new company. Narumi long served as a hub for the eastern part of the network: a depot opened there on 28 March 1930, taking over the functions of the Jingūmae depot, and the Narumi Works on the site carried out rolling-stock repairs together with the adjoining Nippon Sharyō factory. The station building was rebuilt in 1983, and the line through Narumi was elevated between 2004 and 2006. The elevated station opened on 25 November 2006, the manaca IC card was introduced on 11 February 2011, and the Narumi-minami station plaza with its bus terminal opened on the south side of the station in April 2009.
Notes
Narumi once housed Meitetsu's Narumi Works, which handled rolling-stock repairs together with the adjoining Nippon Sharyō factory and made the station the key maintenance base for the eastern part of the network; ahead of the elevation of the line, the works' functions were transferred to the Maiki Inspection Facility in Okazaki and its inspection duties to the Toyoake depot.
