History
Nanakōdai Station opened on 1 July 1968 on the Tōbu Noda Line, coinciding with the inauguration of the adjacent Nanakōdai depot — the line's main rolling-stock facility. A new overhead station building was placed into service on 28 February 2007, replacing the earlier building, whose shared toilets had been reached down a narrow passage at ground level; the new building added a free east–west passageway, an accessible toilet and lifts. Departure melodies were introduced on 23 March 2009, and station operations were outsourced to Tōbu Station Services that December. On 27 October 2012, the station's official address changed to reflect a land-readjustment project on the west side, and an LED replacement for the west-exit station sign was installed on 11 March 2019.
Notes
The placename Nanakōdai is itself a postwar invention: it was coined in 1950 as a composite of the names of two settlers' reclamation co-operatives founded in the area after the war, "Shichifuku" and "Kōfūdai".
