Location
History
Nakashima Station opened as Nakashima tram stop on 12 June 1911, when the Hiroshima branch line of the Dai Nippon Kidō company was extended between Ōtagawabashi (now Kami-Yagi Station) and Kabe. It was transferred successively to the Kabe Kidō company in 1919, to Hiroshima Electric in 1926, and to the Kōhin Railway in 1931. When the Kōhin Railway was nationalized on 1 September 1936, the station became part of the Railway Ministry's Kabe Line and was renamed Aki-Nakashima Station. It suspended operations on 1 October 1943 and reopened as Nakashima Station on 1 June 1956. It became a JR West station at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, and the ICOCA IC card became usable there from 1 September 2007.
Notes
Because the platform sits on a curve, there are sections with a wide gap between train and platform; from 2005 to 2008, doors on the Hiroshima-side car of four-car trains were kept closed there (door-cut) as a result.
