History
Nakasato Station opened on 8 August 1915 as the Nakasato halt on the Saku Railway, accompanying the new Komoro–Koumi service across what is now the city of Saku, Nagano Prefecture. The Saku Railway was nationalised on 1 September 1934 and absorbed into the Ministry of Railways' Koumi North (later Koumi) Line, at which point the stop was promoted from a halt to a full station. Passenger traffic from the station was at first restricted to other stations on the line and to Komoro, Ueda and Nagano on the Shin'etsu Main Line, and that restriction was lifted on 1 December 1954. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 the station came under JR East. It remains an unstaffed single-side-platform stop with a waiting room on the platform.
Notes
The restriction imposed when the Saku Railway was nationalised in 1934 let the station handle passengers only to other stations on the line and to three Shin'etsu Main Line stations — Komoro, Ueda and Nagano; the range widened in 1935 when the Koumi Line was completed throughout, and the restriction was not fully lifted until 1954.
