History
Nakanogō Station opened on 23 July 1929, when the Shima Electric Railway's line between Toba and Shinjukō opened. On 11 February 1944 it became a station of the Mie Kōtsū Shima Line through the merger of the Shima Electric Railway with six other companies; it passed to the Mie Electric Railway on 1 February 1964, and to Kintetsu (Kinki Nippon Railway) through a company merger on 1 April 1965. From 10 December 1969 the station suspended operations for improvement work, with bus substitution provided, and it reopened on 1 March 1970 after conversion to standard gauge. Double-tracking work between Toba and this station, begun in the 1990s, was completed on 6 November 1992, and the station building was relocated 120 meters toward Toba. PiTaPa became usable from 1 April 2007, and the station was unstaffed on 1 November 2011. It carries the subsidiary name "Toba Aquarium-mae" (in front of Toba Aquarium).
