History

Nakamatsue Station opened on 16 June 1912 with the opening of the Kada Light Railway, in the city of Wakayama, Wakayama Prefecture. The station sits 3.3 kilometres from the line's terminus at Kinokawa Station and 5.9 kilometres from Wakayamashi Station, and consists of an island platform serving two tracks, connected to the station building by an internal level crossing. Its operator has changed several times over the decades through a chain of renamings, mergers and asset transfers — Kada Light Railway, Kada Electric Railway, Nankai Railway, Kintetsu and ultimately the present Nankai Electric Railway. Station numbering NK44-2 was introduced on 1 April 2012.
