Location

History

The station entered service on 18 March 1993 as part of the Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line's extension between Shin-Yokohama and Azamino, serving the Kōhoku New Town district of Tsuzuki-ku, Yokohama. Its name, Nakagawa ("middle river"), comes from the 1889 merger of the villages Ōdana, Yamada, Katsuta, Ushikubo, and Chigasaki: the Hayabuchi River ran through their combined territory and formed its center. The station carries an added sub-name for the nearby Tokyo City University Yokohama Campus and is numbered B31. An underground station with two side platforms facing each other across two tracks, it began operating platform screen doors on 14 April 2007. Located 38.4 kilometers from the Shōnandai terminus, it continues to serve the residential, commercial, and university district.

Notes

In the 1997 Fuji TV drama Nurse no Oshigoto 2, Nakagawa Station was written into the story as the nearest station to the series' fictional hospital, Wakabakai Daini Hospital.
