History
Naka-Namerikawa Station opened on 18 February 1914 as a station on the Tateyama Light Railway. It was renamed Sarashiya Station in 1921, relocated to its present site in 1931 and renamed Hon-Namerikawa Station, then reverted to Naka-Namerikawa Station the following year, 1932. Through the 1931 merger of the Tateyama Railway and Toyama Electric Railway and the 1943 consolidation of Toyama Prefecture's transport into Toyama Chihō Railway, it became a station on that company's Main Line. It was rebuilt in 1969 into a station building incorporating an agricultural cooperative hall, and the current station building, replacing the aging earlier one, came into use on 28 March 2014. In December 2022 the mixed-use facility "Merica" was completed on the site of the former station building.
Notes
The former station building, built in 1969, was a station block incorporating the Namerikawa Agricultural Cooperative hall; several shops occupied it over the years, and the last tenant remaining until its demolition was the crepe shop "Sun Marie," founded in 1982.
