History

Nagata Station is an underground station on the Kobe Municipal Subway's Seishin-Yamate Line (station S08) in Nagata-ku, Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture, named for the nearby Nagata Shrine. It opened on 17 June 1983, closed for a month after the Great Hanshin earthquake of 17 January 1995, and reopened on 16 February 1995. At local residents' request, the subsidiary name Nagata-jinja-mae ("in front of Nagata Shrine") was added on 1 December 1999, the same day the connected Kosoku Nagata Station received the same name. The station has an underground concourse and two opposing platforms, linked to Kosoku Nagata Station by passageway.

Notes

Near the station attendant's office inside the ticket gates, paving stones salvaged from the former Kobe City Tram have been reused, with an explanatory plaque and period photographs added in recent years.
