History
Nagata Station, in Nagata-ku, Kobe, opened on 28 November 1928 when the Kobe Arima Electric Railway completed the Minatogawa–Dentetsu-Arima (now Arima Onsen) section; it is numbered KB03. Its operator's name changed several times: a 1947 merger with Miki Electric Railway created Shin'yū-Miki Electric Railway, renamed Kobe Electric Railway in 1949 and again in 1988 to its present form, commonly abbreviated Shintetsu. The ground-level station has two opposed side platforms linked by a footbridge, long enough for five-car trains. Equipment is operated remotely from a central control station, so the station is patrolled rather than permanently staffed; it has no shops, only vending machines and a barrier-free restroom, and today is served by Arima Line semi-express and local trains.
Notes
On 29 August 1945, an inbound train suffered brake failure and derailed at the station, overturning and killing 48 people.
