History

Mutsu-Shirahama Station is a station of JR East's Hachinohe Line located at Yokomichidōri, Same-machi, Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture. It opened on 15 April 1961 as a Japanese National Railways station. It passed to JR East at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. On 1 December 2015, when Hon-Hachinohe Station moved to contracted staffing and its stationmaster and assistant stationmaster posts were abolished, this station came under the management of the Hachinohe stationmaster. It is an at-grade station with a single side platform serving one track, with a waiting room on the platform. The area around the station includes Ōsuka Coast and Shirahama Beach, and seasonal beach houses operate nearby during the swimming season.
