Location
History
Murasakino Station was established as a signal stop on 5 April 1919 on what is now the Tōhoku Main Line, and was upgraded to a passenger station on 1 November 1950. It was absorbed into the JR East network at the privatisation of the Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. The station has two opposed side platforms connected to the station building by a footbridge. Its staffing was contracted out on 1 April 2013 and the ticket window closed on 1 October 2014; since 16 March 2024 it has been unstaffed throughout the day, managed from Kitakami Station. In fiscal 2018 it averaged 986 boarding passengers per day.
