History

Murakami Station opened on 27 April 1996 on the Tōyō Rapid Railway Line, operated by the third-sector Tōyō Rapid Railway. It began as a request station: local residents petitioned for its construction, and a promotion association raised the roughly 1.9 billion yen in construction costs after the project was approved on 27 April 1990; the station's name was settled on 17 August 1995. It is an elevated station with two opposed side platforms and a vermilion-toned building, with ticket gates on the second floor and platforms on the third, linked by stairs, escalator, and elevator; platform waiting rooms began construction in January 2008 and entered service that March. Today it serves Yachiyo, Chiba, as station TR08 between Yachiyo-chūō and Tōyō-Katsutadai.

Notes

The platform waiting rooms completed in March 2008 were only the fourth such installation on the Tōyō Rapid Railway Line, following those at Yachiyo-Midorigaoka, Yachiyo-chūō, and Hasama stations.
