History
Mukōgaoka Station opened on 16 January 1959 on the Toyohashi Railroad Atsumi Line. It was created at the initiative of Toyohashi Railroad itself, which was selling built-for-sale housing in the area and added the station for the convenience of the residents. At dates the sources do not record, the station was destaffed under a commissioned-ticket-sales arrangement and the station building was removed, a ticket-vending machine taking its place; after a break-in at that machine around 2003, ticket sales from it were stopped and the machine was taken out. Equipment for the manaca IC card was installed in December 2010 and entered service on 11 February 2011.
Notes
Mukōgaoka is an unstaffed station with a single side platform: the original station building was torn down after the station went unstaffed, and the ticket-vending machine that replaced it was removed after a break-in around 2003. The neighbourhood is residential, and there are ponds on both the east and west sides of the station; a park has been laid out beside Shōjin Pond on the east side, and Ueta Ōike is also close by.
