History
Motoyama opened on 30 April 1912 as a station on the Takamatsu Electric Tramway. It joined the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad (Kotoden) Nagao Line by amalgamation on 1 November 1943. A ramp was installed for step-free access on 28 February 2006, and on 6 February 2009 the station's main building was designated a Modernization Industrial Heritage by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Notes
Until around 1950, Motoyama had two opposed side platforms and a passing loop; today's stop has only a single platform serving one track.
