History
Motojuku Station opened on 29 March 1989, at the same time as JR East's Ashio Line was converted to the third-sector Watarase Keikoku Railway. The stop was newly built at the conversion in response to local requests: residents around the site had previously had to walk to the distant and inconvenient Kamikambai or Mizunuma stations to use the Ashio Line.
Notes
Motojuku is also used as the nearest station to Nashiki Onsen, a hot spring close to the station.
