Location

History

Moriyama Station opened on 23 March 2001 as stop Y04 on the Guideway Bus Shidami Line, popularly known as the Yutorito Line, a portmanteau of yutori (relaxed) and street. Nagoya Guideway Bus Company owns and manages the elevated guideway and vehicles, while Nagoya Municipal Bus runs the buses. The unstaffed station sits on a viaduct at 3-chome, Moriyama, Moriyama Ward, Nagoya, with two side platforms facing each other across the tracks; its concourse was built with room to add ticket gates later if demand grows, and a restroom sits on the second floor. Sunadabashi (Y03) and Kanaya (Y05) are its neighboring stops. Nearby are the JGSDF Moriyama Camp, the municipal library and Moriyama Itsuki Hospital.

Notes

Although it runs ordinary rubber-tired buses, the Yutorito Line is Japan's only guided busway and is legally classified as a type of railway — its elevated section is treated as a tramway — so it operates under the Railway Business Act.
