History

Morishōji Station opened as "Shin-Morishōji" Station on 14 October 1931, in conjunction with the conversion of the Keihan Main Line section between Gamō (now Kyōbashi) and Moriguchi (now Moriguchi-shi) to a dedicated right-of-way. The section was quadrupled in 1933, and the station was renamed to its current name, Morishōji, on 1 April 1942. It became a station of Keihanshin Express Railway (now Hankyu Corporation) through the 1943 merger, and reverted to Keihan Electric Railway with the company's separation in 1949. Barrier-free improvements had long been delayed, but construction was announced in 2009, and an elevator and multipurpose restroom came into use on 30 May 2011. Its station number is KH07.

Notes

At the time the Keihan Main Line opened, a station already bore the name "Morishōji," but due to the 1931 track relocation and later renamings, the identity is not necessarily continuous; today's Senbayashi Station corresponds to that original Morishōji Station.
