Location

History

Moriishi Station is a station on the Kurobe Gorge Railway Main Line at Funami, Unazuki, Kurobe, Toyama Prefecture; it opened on 16 November 1953 after Kansai Electric Power obtained a local-railway license. The Kurobe Gorge Railway was established on 4 May 1971 and the station became one of that company's stations when operations began on 1 July of the same year. Because it is a station exclusively for Kansai Electric Power's use, general passengers cannot board or alight there. Situated at an elevation of 309 meters, it has an island platform serving two tracks and has the distinctive feature of a station siding that branches off inside a tunnel just nearby. In winter, an underground passage is used by Kansai Electric Power employees for passage.

Notes

It is said that a station called Hotokeishi Station, whose opening and closing dates are both unknown, once existed between here and Yanagibashi Station.
