History
Momozono Station opened on 18 May 1930 with the opening of the Sangū Express Electric Railway's Tsu Branch Line between Sankyū-Nakagawa (now Ise-Nakagawa) and Hisai. It became a station of the Kansai Express Railway through merger with the Osaka Electric Tramway on 15 March 1941, and was placed on the Nagoya Line under a line-name revision. It became a station of Kintetsu (Kinki Nippon Railway) through merger with the Nankai Railway on 1 June 1944. It was unstaffed on 1 March 2001, and PiTaPa became usable on 1 April 2007. A timetable revision on 17 March 2018 added it to the stops served by express trains, and since then all ordinary trains except limited expresses stop there. It is a ground-level station with two opposed platforms serving two tracks; the platforms have an effective length of six cars.
Notes
It is an unstaffed station managed by Tsu Station, with no automatic ticket machines or automatic ticket gates installed; only a boarding-station certificate machine is provided. PiTaPa and ICOCA are handled by dedicated simplified reader gates.
