History
Mogami Station opened on 1 August 1916 as "Uzen-Mukaimachi Station." Freight handling ended on 1 August 1980, and on 1 April 1983 the station became a contracted-operation station; a combined station building incorporating a community center was completed on 17 June of that year. Parcel handling ended on 1 February 1984, and the station became a JR East station at the privatisation of the national railway on 1 April 1987. It was renamed to its present name, Mogami Station, on 4 December 1999, and was once made unstaffed in April 2016, but window ticket sales resumed from October of the following year under simplified consignment to staff of the Mogami town office. It is located at Ōaza Mukaimachi, Mogami-machi, Mogami District, Yamagata Prefecture.
Notes
The station's waiting room houses a piano that was formerly used at Mogami-machi's Akakura Elementary School, which closed in March 2020.
