History
Miyauchi Station opened on 15 July 1925 as an intermediate stop on the Miyajima Line's extension that reached Jigozen. It was slated to be called Kushido Station, but that name was withdrawn before opening. The original station stood near the west portal of the line's only tunnel, the Kushido Tunnel, which lies about 300 m northeast of today's site. Around spring 1945 the station is said to have been relocated about 0.4 km west to its present location, reportedly to ease commuting for workers at a nearby wartime weapons plant. Today it is a ground-level station with two platforms and two tracks, connected on foot to JR Miyauchi-Kushido Station on the San'yō Main Line.
Notes
During the Pacific War, soldiers reportedly departed for the front from the relocated station, which is said to have been moved to serve a nearby wartime weapons plant.
