History
Misato Station opened on 1 April 1973 as a Japanese National Railways station on the Musashino Line, one of twelve stations chosen to trial automatic ticket gates at opening. It passed to East Japan Railway Company on 1 April 1987 when JNR was split up and privatized. The station takes its name from Misato City, whose first railway station it was, though the city hall and central facilities lie in the Taniguchi–Hanawada area of the former Misato village, some distance away. It is an elevated station with two side platforms serving two tracks, staffed under a commissioned arrangement managed by Yoshikawa-Minami Station, and serves Musashino Line trains between Fuchūhommachi and Nishi-Funabashi, some continuing via the Keiyō Line to Tokyo.
Notes
Because its name is written with the same kanji as an unrelated, differently pronounced station in Nara Prefecture (Sangō Station, on JR West's Yamatoji Line), tickets to or from Misato Station carry a "(Musashi)" marker referencing the Musashino Line to avoid confusion.
