History
Mino-Sakamoto Station opened on 25 November 1917 as a general station on the government-run Chūō Main Line between Nakatsugawa and Ōi (now Ena). Because Sakamoto Station already existed on the Hisatsu Line, the prefix Mino (after Mino Province) was added; the unusual writing "美乃" reflects the abbreviation already in local use at the time. Freight handling ended on 21 May 1961 and parcel handling on 1 February 1984. The station passed to JR Central at JNR privatisation on 1 April 1987 and gained TOICA support on 25 November 2006. A Gifu intermediate station of the Chūō Shinkansen maglev is planned immediately west of the existing facility.
Notes
The Chūō Shinkansen's Gifu intermediate station, provisionally named Gifu-ken Station, is planned to be built immediately west of Mino-Sakamoto.
