History
Mino-Shirotori Station opened on 5 July 1933 as the terminus of the Ministry of Railways' Etsumi-Nan Line, extended from Mino-Yatomi Station (now Gujō-Yamato Station), and began handling both passengers and freight. On 1 August of the same year the Ministry-operated bus route "Hakujō Line" also began serving the station, and on 16 August 1934 the line was further extended from this station to Hokunō Station. Freight handling was discontinued on 1 October 1974, and on 11 December 1986 the Etsumi-Nan Line itself was transferred to the third-sector Nagaragawa Railway, which took over the station. It is a ground-level station with two opposing platforms serving two tracks, staffed all day, and a single-story wooden station building dating from the Japanese National Railways era stands on the Platform 1 side. The block system changes at this station, with the staff (token) block system used toward Hokunō.
Notes
The station building houses both "Hazanekonoko," a challenge shop where individuals can run a stall on a rotating daily basis, and a JA Megumino branch office, giving the station an unusual liveliness for a local private-railway station amid a general trend toward unstaffing.
