History
Minami-Itō Station opened on 10 December 1961 on the Izu Kyūkō Line, a private line operated by the Izukyū Corporation from its starting point at Itō. The station is 2.0 rail kilometres from Itō Station, sits on a single elevated island platform with the station building underneath, and remains staffed. The line's construction-era working name for the stop was Izu-Kamata Station before it took its present form at opening. It carries station number IZ02. A simple IC card top-up machine is installed for users of Suica and other transit IC cards, one of nine such locations on the line.
Notes
Minami-Itō is the only station on the Izu Kyūkō Line passed by limited express trains where an electronic bell is broadcast as the departure signal.
