History

Minami-Toyama Station opened on 6 December 1914 as Horikawashin Station on what is now the Toyama Chihō Railway Fujikoshi Line, and was renamed Minami-Toyama on 25 April 1921. It is the junction of the Fujikoshi Line with the Kamidaki Line and also the terminus of Line 2 of the Toyama City Tram, 3.3 kilometres from the starting point of the Fujikoshi Line. The station is staffed and has a ground-level island platform for the Fujikoshi Line services plus two ground-level opposed side platforms for the tram line, only one of which is in operation.
