History
Minami-Takasaki Station opened on 9 September 1935 on the Jōshin Line in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, originally under the name Shimowada Station. It was renamed Minami-Takasaki on 15 January 1953. The station stands 0.9 km from the line's Takasaki terminus and has been operated throughout its history by Jōshin Dentetsu (the Jōshin Electric Railway). The halt became fully unstaffed on 1 May 1988, and today consists of a single side platform with no station building; the structure resembling a station house is in fact a toilet.
Notes
The building that looks like a station house at Minami-Takasaki is actually a toilet; the station once had a freight siding used to carry cement to a factory nearby, which was removed when freight operations ended.
