History
Minami-Kodakara-Onsen Station opened on 27 April 2002 as the 36th station on the Nagara River Railway's Etsumi-Nan Line, a petitioned station whose construction cost was borne by the then village of Minami, which built it to connect directly to a new wing added during the renovation of the hot spring facility Nihon Man-Mannaka Onsen Kodakara no Yu. On opening day, completion ceremonies for the station building and the hot spring facility and a departure ceremony were held, and, as the Nagara River Railway Festival 2002, traditional performing arts from along the line were presented and local specialty products sold. That fiscal year the station was also selected as one of the '100 Selected Stations of the Chubu Region.' The directly connected hot spring facility ended its publicly run operation on 29 September 2024 and reopened the following year, on 6 December 2025, as a private business under a locally funded operating company, 'Kodakara Onsen Enku no Yu.'
Notes
The station platform and the hot spring facility Kodakara no Yu are integrated, and at opening the station drew attention as "the station where you can enter a hot spring straight from the platform." A three-light railway signal is installed near the facility's entrance, indicating the approximate time until the next train arrives.
