History

Minami-Arako Station opened on 6 October 2004 as a station on the Nagoya Rinkai Rapid Transit Aonami Line (formally the Nishi-Nagoya-kō Line), in Wakayamachō, Nakagawa-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. During planning it was provisionally called "Wakayamachō." Ahead of opening, it was shown at trial-ride events — for residents along the line on 20 September and for Nagoya citizens on 25 September of that year. It is an elevated station on an embankment with a single island platform serving two tracks, equipped with one elevator and platform doors on both platforms 1 and 2. It is normally unstaffed and is managed from the neighboring Nakajima Station.

Notes

The station sits at the exact midpoint of the Yamashio Ryokudō, a green path popular with local residents for relaxation, and is also used by visitors heading out to stroll around the Arako Kannon area.
