History

Minakuchi Jōnan Station opened on 5 April 1989 on the Ohmi Railway Main Line in the city of Kōka, Shiga Prefecture, and is the station closest to the built-up centre of Kōka, with government offices and commercial facilities spread across its south side. The station has a single side platform serving one bi-directional track, with a two-story wooden station building that was staffed during daytime hours until full-time unstaffing took effect on 1 March 2026. It carries the station number OR36 and lies 45.1 rail kilometres from the line's terminus at Maibara. In fiscal 2018 it handled about 534 passengers daily.
