History
Mimurodo Station opened newly on 1 February 1917 between Ōbaku and Uji stations on the Keihan Electric Railway's Uji Line. It was suspended from operation on 5 June 1918 and reopened by 1922. It became a station of Keihanshin Express Railway (Hankyu Railway) through a company merger on 1 October 1943, but was temporarily abolished on 1 November of the same year. It reopened after the war on 1 April 1947, and became a station of Keihan Electric Railway again when the companies separated on 1 December 1949. The present station building was completed in 1969, when the platforms were changed from two opposing side platforms to a single island platform serving two tracks. Automatic ticket gates were installed in October 1994, and an ostomate-accessible multipurpose restroom was installed in January 2009. It is the nearest station to Mimurotoji Temple, and its station number is KH76.
Notes
In June 1999, because Mimurotoji Temple is known for its hydrangeas, the Uji Rapid service that ran on holidays made a special stop at this station.
