History
Miki Station opened as Miki-Fukuyūbashi Station at Suehiro, Miki City, Hyōgo Prefecture, on 28 January 1938, when Miki Electric Railway extended its line from Miki-Higashiguchi Station (now Miki-Uenomaru Station). Miki Electric Railway merged with Kobe Arima Electric Railway in 1947, and the station thereby became a station of Shin'yū Miki Electric Railway (now Kobe Electric Railway). It became a through-station with the December 1951 extension to Dentetsu-Ono Station, was renamed Dentetsu-Miki Station in 1954, and was renamed to its current name, Miki, in 1988. A wooden station building remained for many years, but in March 2018 the building on the down-platform side was completely destroyed by fire spreading from a nearby blaze. A new modern-style station building, chosen through a competition for its exterior design, was completed in March 2022, and the Miki City Tourist Association has also relocated into the station premises.
Notes
The appearance of the new station building was decided through the "Miki Station Design General Election," a referendum-style vote held in 2020.
