History
Mikayamaguchi Station opened on 23 November 1960 as a station of the Mizuma Railway's Mizuma Line, in Mitsumatsu, Kaizuka City, Osaka Prefecture. It was a small station with a strong petition-driven origin, established along with the construction of the Mikayama district's memorial tower and municipal housing, and it has operated since opening as an unstaffed, at-grade station with one side platform and one track. The canopy over the platform was extended on 30 November 1988. PiTaPa compatibility and one-man train operation were introduced in June 2009, but no IC-card reader was installed at the station itself, and fares are settled using onboard equipment. Both the readings "Mikeyamaguchi" and "Mikayamaguchi" coexist for the station's name.
Notes
In 2009 the station name sign was changed to read "Mikeyamaguchi," but the timetable on the Mizuma Railway's official website still lists it as "Mikayamaguchi," and the inconsistency in reading remains.
