History
Mikawa Station opened on 1 June 1913 as Shirosaki Station, on a branch of the Imperial Railway Agency's Shin'etsu Line that became the Iwakoshi Line in 1914 and the Ban'etsu West Line in 1917. Freight handling ended in 1973 and the station was renamed Mikawa and placed under simplified-consignment operation on 14 March 1985. It passed to JR East at privatisation on 1 April 1987, and the second track was removed in November 1991. A station library known as the Teishajō Bunko opened in October 2000.
Notes
Tourist steam services on the SL Ban'etsu Monogatari, which runs between Niitsu and Aizu-Wakamatsu, call at Mikawa; the waiting room on the platform was given a station name board and benches to serve them.
