History
Miharashidai Station opened on 1 October 1986 on Minami Aso Railway's Takamori Line, 16.1 km from the Tateno starting point. The station sits in Minamiaso village near the boundary with Takamori town and consists of a single side platform at grade with a log-cabin-style station building; it is unattended. At opening the roof of the station building was an observation deck with a good view, as the station name ('lookout point') suggests, but it did not survive the rebuilding of the deteriorating original into the present log-cabin structure. Service on the whole line was suspended after the Kumamoto earthquakes of 14 April 2016 and resumed on the Nakamatsu–Takamori section, including this station, on 31 July 2016.
Notes
With a daily ridership reported as roughly one passenger, Miharashidai's log-cabin station building has appeared in a Kirin Beverage Gogo no Kōcha television commercial.
