History

Midorigaoka Station opened on 25 December 1929 as Nakamaruyama Station, named after a hill just north of the site. On 1 April 1933 it was renamed Midorigaoka Station, after the surrounding district, which had itself been renamed for its green hillsides in 1932. The Japanese spelling was revised again on 20 January 1966 to its present form, though the English romanization did not change. The elevated station has two opposing side platforms; barrier-free construction between 2008 and 2013 added escalators and elevators, and platform doors were installed. It now serves a residential part of Meguro, Tokyo, on the Tokyu Oimachi Line between Ookayama and Jiyugaoka stations.

Notes

Midorigaoka Station is the southernmost railway station in Meguro ward, Tokyo.
