History
Matsuyamachi Station opened on 11 December 1996 with the extension of the Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi Line between Shinsaibashi and Kyobashi. It is an underground station with an island platform serving two tracks, and it has only one ticket gate, located toward the Shinsaibashi end. Movable platform barriers came into use on 12 October 2010, and the station became a station of Osaka Metro (Osaka City Rapid Electric Tramway) with the privatisation of the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau on 1 April 2018. It stands at the intersection of Matsuyamachi-suji and Nagahori-dori; of the major lines running east-west through the city of Osaka, this is the only one with a station where it crosses Matsuyamachi-suji.
Notes
In reference to the neighbourhood's wholesale district for dolls, penny candy, and fireworks, the station's design theme is "dolls and toys," and display cases inside the ticket gates hold seasonal festival dolls.
