Location

History

Matsubara Station opened on 1 September 1949 as Tamaden-Matsubara Station, formed by relocating the Rokusho-jinja-mae stop that had stood toward Yamashita, effectively merging it with the Shichiken-cho stop toward Shimo-takaido. It was renamed Matsubara Station on 11 May 1969. It is a ground-level station with two side platforms serving two tracks; during weekday morning rush hours, staff are stationed on the down-direction platform to help passengers board and alight, though fares are not collected there. Today it is stop SG09 on the Tokyu Setagaya Line, between Yamashita and Shimo-takaido stations, sitting in Setagaya Ward's Matsubara 4-chome on the boundary with neighboring Akazutsumi.

Notes

A bus stop with the same name, "Matsubara", exists on nearby routes, but it lies roughly 800 meters from the station and is impractical as a transfer point; the actual nearest connecting bus stop, about 400 meters away, is called Akazutsumi instead.
